Where Can Hardwood Be Installed?

The different types of hardwood flooring feature different levels of durability. For example, solid hardwood can only be installed in, on, and above ground rooms like bedrooms, living rooms, and dining rooms. Due to its simple construction it is not build to handle heavy foot traffic. Engineered hardwood flooring can be installed in kitchens, hallways and even basements due to its durable construction. So long as you care for your hardwood floors and do not continuously beat on them, they will last a long time in your home.

Be sure to avoid installing hardwood in places with a lot of heat and moisture like bathrooms and laundry rooms.

Solid vs Engineered Hardwood

Hardwood is considered one of the original flooring options and comes in many different options with different species, finishes, plank widths and more. The different types of wood species all range in durability and even color. A naturally hard wood like oak and maple are the ideal options for homes that see frequent foot traffic. The biggest decision you have to make when choosing hardwood is choosing engineered vs. solid hardwood. Solid and engineered hardwood floors have their own benefits and we don’t consider one better than the other, it just all depends on the needs of your home.

The type of hardwood you choose can impact the style and functionality of your flooring. Solid hardwood flooring features unmatched beauty. These planks are made of a simple construction, and add value to your home. Engineered hardwood is made with real wood products, it is just made up of three to seven wood veneer layers with a finished piece of premium wood on the surface. This layered construction allows for the plank to be more stable.
